Here at Focus IT we are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring Charlotte Kemp from Sixty Eight People who is undertaking an incredible cycling challenge across Kenya this month. Charlotte is going to be raising vital funds for the Licensed Trade Charity and Only a Pavement Away.
Pedalling for Pubs 2024 is a charity cycle ride set against the backdrop of Kenya’s diverse landscapes, aimed at raising funds and awareness for these two important charities. This year’s event will see Charlotte join the group of 30 riders cycling 400km across Kenya from 18th to 21st March. An amazing feat, they will be travelling from Nairobi to the Masai Mara where not just their fitness and endurance will be tested, but also their nerve as they are sure to encounter a lot of wildlife along the way – including lion, elephant, hippo and hyenas!
But it is all in aid of some really excellent causes. The Licensed Trade Charity and Only a Pavement Away tirelessly work to provide support, assistance, and opportunities to vulnerable individuals within the hospitality industry, including those facing poverty, homelessness, and other challenges.

Only a Pavement Away provides a pathway out of homelessness and crime, into purposeful employment within the hospitality sector. The charity works to connect at risk people with meaningful job opportunities, helping them secure stable employment and regain their independence, whilst training and learning valuable skills.
The Licensed Trade Charity was founded in 1793 and it supports thousands of people facing a crisis with expert advice, emotional and financial support. As well as practical support on overcoming workplace challenges, the charity’s financial support is there to assist with housing and childcare costs, unexpected medical bills and emergency situations, whilst it also offers a 24/7 helpline and professional counselling service, providing emotional support when it is most needed.
We are extremely proud of Charlotte and can’t wait to support her along her journey! To find out how you can donate, visit her JustGiving page here
