Here at Focus IT, we’re absolutely delighted to be sponsoring Charlotte Kemp from Sixty Eight People. This month, Charlotte is taking on an incredible cycling challenge across Kenya. She’ll be raising vital funds for both the Licensed Trade Charity and Only a Pavement Away.
Pedalling for Pubs 2024 is a charity cycle ride set against the stunning backdrop of Kenya’s diverse landscapes. The event aims to raise both funds and awareness for these two important charities. This year, Charlotte will join a group of 30 riders to cycle 400 km across Kenya from 18 to 21 March.
It’s an amazing feat. The team will travel from Nairobi to the Masai Mara, where not only their fitness and endurance will be tested, but also their nerve. Along the way, they’re likely to encounter Kenya’s famous wildlife — including lions, elephants, hippos and hyenas!
However, it’s all in aid of some truly excellent causes. The Licensed Trade Charity and Only a Pavement Away work tirelessly to support vulnerable individuals within the hospitality industry. This includes those facing poverty, homelessness and other life challenges.

Only a Pavement Away provides a clear pathway out of homelessness and crime, offering meaningful employment opportunities within the hospitality sector. The charity helps at-risk people secure stable jobs, regain their independence, and develop valuable skills for the future.
Meanwhile, the Licensed Trade Charity, founded in 1793, continues to support thousands of people in crisis. The charity offers expert advice, emotional and financial assistance, and practical help with workplace challenges. Its services include financial support for housing and childcare costs, unexpected medical bills and emergency situations. In addition, it runs a 24/7 helpline and professional counselling service, providing emotional support when it’s needed most.
We are extremely proud of Charlotte and can’t wait to cheer her on throughout this incredible journey. To find out how you can donate and support her efforts, visit her JustGiving page here.
